Our History

Sebenza Forwarding & Shipping began operating in 1997 as the first Black Empowered Clearing and Forwarding Company. EMOTRANS has since inception been our international Network Partners with a footprint throughout the world.

Makana Investment Corporation (MIC) is the major shareholder; MIC is the commercial vehicle of the Makana Trust; which was formed to address the plight of the Ex-Political Prisoners of Robbern Island. The minority shareholder Bidvest Group Limited has always played a strategic role in the running of the business.

We were built, brick upon brick to form a solid structure. We enjoy the backing of major organizations, both locally and internationally.

  • Out of +400 registered traditional freight organizations, we are a proudly South African entity that is amongst the industry leaders to be accredited.
  • We have positioned ourselves in the industry as a world player.
  • We applied to be accredited in accordance with world standards in November 2001 after going through the tough process of qualifying. We are still achieving the o>bjects set by ISO 9001:2008 and we have kept that status.
  • We have a level 3 BBBEEE rating.
